Camptocamp is Now a Certified B Corp!
Aligning Open Source Expertise with Social and Environmental Responsibility
Alexandre Saunier
We are thrilled to announce that as of September 2026, Camptocamp (across Switzerland, France, and Germany) is officially a Certified B Corp!
You can view our full profile on the B Corp directory.
As a software specialist, being a Certified B Corp means aligning our passion for open-source solutions with a deep, systemic commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility. Guided by our core values - respect, openness, team spirit, and innovation - we strive to leverage digital technology to build a positive and lasting impact for our team, clients, partners, and community.
What is B Corp Certification?
The B Corp Certification, administered by B Lab, evaluates a company’s entire social and environmental performance. Rather than assessing a single product, it measures comprehensive impact across five key areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers.
Why We Pursued B Corp Certification
Pursuing B Corp certification was a natural step in our evolution.
First, it strengthens our attractiveness as an employer, partner, and vendor to individuals and organizations who share our values.
Second, it connects us with an inspiring ecosystem of like-minded companies, including our B Corp customers such as Cosanum and Octo Technology, as well as our B Corp providers including Resilio, id est avocats, Mobilidée, and Swile.
Finally, the certification process provided a powerful framework for corporate introspection, enabling us to formalize our existing commitments and continuously improve our internal policies.
A Deeper Look at Our Sustainability Journey
How It Started
Our path toward formal certification began in 2023 with the creation of an internal CSR working group, supported by expert advisor Christophe Fischer from PME Durable. In 2024, we appointed a dedicated Sustainability Manager to drive our CSR strategy. Key milestones included completing our comprehensive carbon footprint assessment in 2025 and aligning our operations for B Corp evaluation.
Key Achievements & Concrete Actions
Over the past few years, we have implemented significant policies and initiatives across the organization:
- Governance & Purchasing: We established our official Code of Ethics, a Charter of Responsible Purchasing, and an AI Charter. We also implemented an accessible whistleblower mechanism backed by a formal Grievance and Whistleblower Protection Policy. In 2025, over 30% of our supplier spending went to local providers.
- Environmental Stewardship: We published our Carbon Reduction Plan, instituted energy monitoring and waste management practices, and updated our mobility policy. Public transport is strongly prioritized, plane travel is strictly limited (allowed only when train alternatives exceed 5 hours), and we are experimenting with public car-sharing for last-kilometer connectivity.
- People & Workplace Culture: We foster diversity and inclusion, with women representing 28.7% of our overall workforce and 36% of management roles. We offer equitable wages, comprehensive insurance and retirement benefits, progressive paid leave (including menstrual leave and breastfeeding support), and high workplace flexibility (39% of our staff work part-time). Furthermore, all staff receive sustainability training through internal e-learning and best-practice documentation, and employees receive paid time off to participate in local volunteering initiatives.
- Transparency: For a detailed breakdown of our progress, explore our 2024–2026 Impact Report.
Impact Business Models (IBMs)
Within the B Corp framework, there is a fundamental distinction between standard operational impact ("doing no harm") and an Impact Business Model (IBM). An IBM means that our business model itself delivers significant, durable, and verifiable positive outcomes for stakeholders. During our audit, we successfully demonstrated two key IBMs:
Workforce Development: We provide high-quality job opportunities, upskilling, and career progression to individuals in non-traditional career paths. Through active engagement in the Swiss apprenticeship system and partnerships with innovative institutions like Ecole 42, we help career-changers and underrepresented groups build sustainable careers in digital services.
Support for Purpose-Driven Enterprises: We deliver specialized open-source software solutions to empower organizations whose core mission is social or environmental progress - including NGOs, public services, healthcare, and educational institutions. These mission-critical projects accounted for approximately 40% of our total turnover in 2025.
Looking Ahead
Certification is not a final destination, but a milestone on a continuous journey. The 2026 audit highlighted several valuable areas for further improvement, which we will address leading up to our recertification in 2029.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire Camptocamp team, whose dedication and daily efforts made this achievement possible. To learn more about our ongoing initiatives, please visit our CSR page.
