In continuation of developments linked to the Rennes Métropole territorial cooperation platform 'Coopter', Camptocamp is proud to present to you the latest application in our triptych: the TRAMBUS application.

The result of successful work and close collaboration with Rennes Métropole services, this new application innovate in the way citizens interact with their urban environment.

Welcome aboard the Rennes TRAMBUS

Rennes Métropole has unveiled the routes of the future T1 and T2 trambus lines, a new mode of transport intended to compete with the individual car. This ambitious project of four lines by 2030 aims to offer faster, regular and reliable public transport, with electric buses circulating mainly on secure and reserved lanes. Each line will be accompanied by cycling facilities and spaces for active travel such as walking and cycling. With 55 km of lines, around a hundred stations and park and ride facilities, the trambus will serve around 200,000 residents and 135,000 jobs, recording around 90,000 trips per day. Work will begin in 2025 with commissioning staggered between 2027 and 2030.

The interactive application dedicated to the Rennes TRAMBUS is designed to offer each user an immersive experience. This three-stage journey is the fruit of in-depth reflection, in which Camptocamp played an active part as part of the working group. Camptocamp then developed the application, ensuring fluid and intuitive navigation. As a result, the application allows users to immerse themselves in the project and explore every detail.

Overview of the Rennes metropolis

The global vision of the network allows users to locate the TRAMBUS lines in the Rennes metropolis. This panoramic view is ideal for understanding the scale of the project and its implications on the territory.

Focus on the selected line

At the second zoom level, the app focuses on the selected line, providing a detailed overview of stations, park and ride locations and connections. Users can imagine their movements with precision.

Exploration of stations and future developments

Finally, the last zoom level allows users to discover the developments planned at the stations, as well as the points of interest located nearby. This approach allows an in-depth exploration of future developments and offers a concrete vision of the impact of the TRAMBUS on the urban environment.

Thanks to these 2D and 3D mapping functionalities, the application offers total immersion in the TRAMBUS project, allowing everyone to discover and understand the challenges of this new mode of electric transport in Rennes.

Inclusion and Accessibility: An Application for All

In our commitment to inclusion and accessibility, our application aims to inform, educate and facilitate the use of TRAMBUS for all users, regardless of their abilities. To achieve this goal, our developers worked closely with accessibility experts as well as UI/UX designers.

During the development of the application, we particularly took into account several crucial aspects to guarantee its maximum accessibility. We first paid particular attention to contrast and readability of information, ensuring that visual elements were clearly distinguished and easily identifiable. In addition, we have integrated information redundancy features on mapping and side panels, making it easier to understand for all users, including those with specific needs.

At the same time, we have made our components compatible with screen readers, ensuring that essential information is accessible to visually impaired or blind people. Finally, we have implemented alternative navigation and element selection mechanisms, allowing smooth use of the application for people who cannot use the mouse.

Thanks to this collaborative approach and our commitment to accessibility, our application offers a fluid and inclusive experience for all Rennes TRAMBUS users.

The integration of citizen participation is essential for the evolution of TRAMBUS. To facilitate this interaction, we have integrated a gateway to the Citizen Factory within our application.

This gateway allows users to give their opinion, propose improvements and actively participate in citizen consultations. In collaboration with Fabrique Citoyenne and CapCollectif, Camptocamp has developed a fluid solution that allows users to quickly access a summary of current consultations from the application.

With this integration, users can view consultations on a map and easily switch to full details to participate. This guarantees direct involvement of the population in the design and continuous improvement of the TRAMBUS.

Technical Details and Optimization

To meet the complex challenge of ensuring smooth navigation and clear presentation of up-to-date information, the application combines data from Rennes Métropole services with an interface optimized for a user experience. immersive.

The data, from various formats such as vector data and images of development plans, is managed collaboratively to ensure its accuracy and timeliness.

Using VCMap and custom development tools, we further optimized the display to enable ultra-smooth 3D navigation. Additionally, we have made information easily accessible, even with complex data, ensuring a technical and intuitive user experience, emphasizing smooth interaction and a clear understanding of the data presented.
