Ansible itself is an Open Source platform for orchestration, configuration and administration of IT infrastructures. The solution combines software distribution, ad-hoc command execution and configuration management (CM). It also manages network computers via SSH and, unlike other CM systems such as Puppet, Ceph, or Salt, does not require a Minion setup on the system being managed. The modules use JSON for output and can be written in any programming language. Red Hat Ansible uses YAML to formulate reusable descriptions of systems.
